About the Jeep Wrangler 4xe
The Wrangler 4xe is the first electrified open-air SUV, which combines all of the capability that has made the Wrangler a household name with an advanced plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Three different driving modes let you get the most out of your Wrangler 4xe under a wide variety of driving conditions. It delivers 21 miles of range in all-electric mode1, and 370 miles of total range3. You’ll find the 49 MPGe2 rating is easy on the wallet, while the 375 horsepower and 470 l-ft of torque is more than enough for an exciting drive. The Wrangler 4xe takes advantage of the wide variety of customization options you expect from a Wrangler, and is still every bit as capable off-road as the conventionally-powered versions that share the Wrangler nameplate.
What the Critics Say
What’s New for 2023
The changes from the 2022 model have been minor, and mostly cosmetic. Jeep has cut the Tuscadero, Snazzberry, and Gobi paint options, but in exchange you get the Limited Edition Reign option, which is a very striking shade of purple. The “Jeep” and “Trail Rated” badges have also been changed to a silver and blue color scheme to set the 4xe apart from the rest of the Wrangler lineup.
Wrangler 4xe Features

Electrified Performance
With 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque on tap, the Wrangler 4xe really shows the benefits of a plug-in hybrid. As you have come to expect from the Wrangler, the 4xe is a formidable offroad machine. But thanks to the low-end torque you get from an electric motor, things like rock crawling are even easier than in conventional Wranglers. The 4xe is also the world’s first PHEV with front and rear locking differentials, allowing you to take advantage of the off road capabilities of the 4xe just like you would any Wrangler. The 4xe has three driving modes for the hybrid system, Hybrid, Electric, and eSave. eSave is used to keep the electric power stored in the batteries in reserve, saving it for when you need it most. Electric uses only electric power to carry you through low-noise, or low-emissions areas, or to do some quiet off-roading. Hybrid, the default mode, is the best of both worlds. This includes being able to use the full power of both the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and the electric motors.

Make It Your Own
The Wrangler comes with a huge range of options to allow you to configure it to make it just right for however you want to use it, and the 4xe is no different. You can drive it fully open, with a soft top and the available Mopar® Door-Off Mirror Kit, allowing you to remove the doors while still keeping the side mirrors. You could also go with a full hardtop, or split the difference with a Sunrider® for Hardtop. And if a good stereo is a priority, there is an available Alpine® Premium Audio System, which features an overhead sound bar, all-weather subwoofer, and a 552-watt amplifier. As a 4xe-exclusive option, Jeep also has a Level II charger available4, which can fully charge your 4xe in just two hours, six times faster than a Level I charger.

Off Road Ready
Let’s face it, if it isn’t ready for the most demanding of off-road conditions, it’s not a Wrangler. That’s why the 4xe is built with the latest off-road parts and technology. This includes front and rear Tru-Lok® Electronic-Locking Differentials, Selec-Speed® Control for tricky low-speed situations in 4-LO. You’ll get Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC) for dealing with hills, and an Off-Road+ drive setting to give you the best possible setup to tackle difficult terrain. And if your adventures take you somewhere cold, the available Cold Weather Group adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel to the heated side mirrors that come standard.
