Ram Truck Customization Options
There are a lot of good reasons to pick a Ram truck, from offroad ability to towing capacity, or the best truck interiors in the business. But now that you’ve chosen a Ram truck, you want to make it your own. Maybe you want some towing equipment, or you want to equip your truck to handle extreme cold, or maybe you just want to give it a look that makes it your own. Ram offers a ton of customization options for both the 1500 and the heavy-duty 2500/3500. Beyond the many bed/cab combinations available, as well as the surprisingly long list of available paint options, there are several option packages which we’ll help to explain here.
Ram 1500 Options Packages
Appearance Packages
A quick way to give your 1500 a bit more visual flair and set it apart from stock versions is with an appearance package. These include things like trim pieces, badging, grille finishes, and even unique wheels. Some of these are specific to certain trims, like the Laramie Southwest Edition package for the Laramie, or the Rebel X package for the Rebel. But there are three packages that are available on most trims:
- Chrome Appearance Group
- Sport Appearance Package
- Night Edition
Bed Utility Group
Depending on what you need your truck for, it can be incredibly useful to customize it with some features to make the bed more usable at the job site or the campsite. This package includes:
- 400W Inverter
- Exterior 115V AC Outlet
- 4-Adjustable Cargo Tie-Down Hooks by Mopar®
- Deployable Bed-Step by Mopar®
- Spray-In Bedliner by Mopar®

Towing packages are obviously important to offer with pickup trucks, an absolute necessity for anyone who plans on using their truck for towing. There are a couple of towing packages for the 1500, with the first being the Towing Technology Group. This is essentially just Trailer Hitch Line-Up Assist, but it’s very much worth having. The other package is the Trailer-Tow Group, which is quite extensive, and includes:

A lot of truck owners end up spending a lot of time in their trucks, long towing hauls, or traveling to distant locations for offroading or work. That’s where the Technology Group comes in, some options to improve your time on the highway. It includes the following:

Off-Road Group
Offroading is a pretty popular use for pickups, and there are several entire trims dedicated to offroading for both the 1500 and 2500. But if you aren’t interested in one of those, but you still want the offroad ability, there’s a package for you. It includes the following:

Ram 2500/3500 Customization Options
The heavy-duty offerings from Ram share some of the same option packages as the 1500, and things like the the appearance packages and the Bed Utility Group are essentially the same. There are several packages that are specific to the heavy-duty models, and a lot of them have to do with snow plowing. This includes the Heavy-Duty Snow-Plow Prep Group, which includes a 220-amp alternator and a skid plate for the transfer case. There’s also the Cold Weather Group adds an engine block heater and grille cover. But the most equipment comes from the Snow Chief Group, which includes:

- Instrument Panel Mounted Auxiliary Switches
- Auxiliary-Switches Prep
